I'm not eating there again!
It's quite normal for me to grab a bite for lunch at an abnormal meal time--at around 1500. Jiayi rice with turkey shreds came to mind and it's just around the corner. There weren't many customers at this time of day.
"You don't have to 'pay twice' if you pay now, and its' gonna spare you some trouble." said the waiter(an old lady) jokingly right after the meal was served. As I remembered, it was never the small restaurant's dining policy to collect the money you owe before meal. I always pick up the tab after meal there. I complied anyway probably because of the old lady's Taiwanse sense of humor, "pay twice".
The rice was yummy so I asked for seconds. Of course I got to stand up, reach into my pant's pocket for money and pay for the second bowl of rice first before I could continue stuffing my face.
As a usual scene in the city, the old lady cried out, "Whose scooter is that? Would you move a bit for the sedan to pull in the parking spot?" I rushed out of the restaurant and did as she said. I didn't get pissed or anything as my meal was interrupted, but, when I come back in, I was toally freaked out to find that my half-eaten meal, including 3 dishes, 1 bowl of rice with turkey shreds and 1 bowl of pork chop in soup, had been taken away from my dining table like the leftovers that had been left by a customer.
Now it was my turn to cry out,"Who took away my food that I haven't finished yet?" No one reponded for a short while until the old lady uttered a sound, " I did."
"How could you...Grrrrrrr! It was you who needed me to move my scooter. You knew I was half way through the meal. Why? Why? Why? " I said incredibly.
The old lady didn't seem to be frightened by my raised voice. " I was afraid you would eat too much. And I was afraid you would not come back to finish it, major dude..." She replied with her local sense of humor.
I didn't know how to react to her lame, or funny excuses. She didn't either offer to refund part of the money I'd paid, nor offer to compensate me with some more food. She just grinned with an innocent look. I tried to compose myself and dicided that I would never be eating there again, ever!!
