It’s an awful thing happening to Yao Ming. He got badly injured of his right knee while the Rockets was competing against the Clippers last Saturday. His knee was fractured at the tibial plateau. The injury will force him out of lineup for the next six weeks. When I saw him crashing onto the deck, holding his leg and screaming out with agony, my heart seemed split too.
Yao Ming is one of my favorite athletes in the word. I like him not just because he is a Chinese, but because he is a great basketball player.
I saw him play basketball several years ago while he was playing for ShangHai Big Shark. Although he was a 7-foot-6-inch big guy, he looked just like an ordinary center at the moment. Neither was his speed fast nor his skill was professional. Afterward, he joined the NBA and became a member of the Rockets. The first year I frequently watched him falling down on the deck and only running up and down on the court. His teammates even didn’t pass the ball to him. At that time I didn’t think his career could go too far. At most one or two years he would be kicked out the NBA. But with time going by and through his struggle against difficult situations, he has been making much progress of everything for basketball including speaking English. Now he is on the way to the MVP, but the bad thing occurred unexpectedly.
Let’s pray for Yao, keep concerning about his recovering from the injury. I’m sure he will come back soon.
