Taiwan's Tourism Video to the World.

G'day guys,

I was wondering if you guys have seen this video in Taiwan.

TAIWAN ~Touch Your Heart~

I think it's a video made by the Department of Tourism of Taiwan a couple of years back. I saw this video in my uni (Australian) about three months ago. It cerntainly show the essense of unique beauty and culture Taiwan has to offer to the world. My Aussie friends were quite drawn by this video. They asked me if Taiwan is actually as wonderful as the video portraits. In my conscience, it was hard to answer. I guess it's all up to the environmental sense of responsibility in each one of us to keep it true. hmmm, I'm being a big tree hugging hippie there. Hope you guys don't mind.

Thanks for your sharing. It really touchs heart and I am glad that more and more people can get to know more about Taiwan via this sort of videos.

As I know, many foreigners still confuse between Thai and Taiwan or some of them even have never heard about Taiwan. However, I always am proud of telling them Taiwan is a great country with spectacular landscapes and well-know computer technology.... And at the end of my introduction of Taiwan, I always say " Welcome to Taiwan"...haha~

Well edited video montage is a highly compressed and filtered form of representational reality. With the same technique, one can be motivated to made a video montage that focus on all the ugly sides of Taiwan such as pollution, suicide rate, economic hardships, crime statistics, social injustice, corrupt politicians just to name a few. It is always a good idea to be fair and balanced about it. Eventually one need to come down from cloud 9 and put both feet firmly on the ground, sometimes.

Totally agree with you there about the fair and balanced part. But as for tourism ads and videos, I don't think any country would edit in their bad sides. Otherwise, it would definately be a failed marketing campaign. Ads are for scamming people. However, it would be fun to see an ad that is a parody in nature though. Here's an idea: Australian tourism ad with Pauline Hanson and the Sydney Lebanese bashing scenes, that would be quite interesting. (apologies to Aussies reading this. wait, I'm an Aussie.. )
